Privacy Policy

1. Who operates SawFacts
SawFacts (the “Site”, at sawfacts.com) is an independent, free, informational reference that publishes chainsaw specifications and side-by-side comparisons. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any manufacturer. For privacy questions, contact privacy@sawfacts.com.
2. Information we collect
The Site is designed to collect as little as possible. There are no user accounts, sign-ups, comment forms, or payment processing, so we do not collect names, email addresses, or other personal information from visitors.
- Server / access logs. Like virtually all websites, our hosting platform automatically records standard request data: your IP address, user-agent string, the URL requested, referrer, timestamp, and response status. These logs are used to operate, secure, and debug the Site.
- Cookies. The Site sets at most one functional, first-party cookie storing your unit preference (e.g. imperial vs. metric display). It contains no identifier, is not used for tracking or advertising, and is not shared. The Site sets no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. If the unit-preference feature is not active, the Site sets no cookies at all.
- Search queries. If you use on-site search, the query is sent to our server to return results and may appear in standard access logs. Please do not enter personal information into the search box.
3. No user accounts, no sale of data
We do not maintain user profiles. We do not sell, rent, or trade visitor information. We do not build advertising profiles.
4. Analytics
The Site currently runs no third-party analytics, advertising, or behavioral-tracking scripts. If privacy-respecting, cookieless analytics are introduced in the future, this policy will be updated to describe them.
5. Third parties
- Hosting. The Site and its database are hosted on Railway, which processes request data (including IP addresses) on our behalf to deliver the Site and may retain operational logs under its own policies.
- Outbound links. Pages may link to manufacturer or third-party websites. Those sites have their own privacy practices, which we do not control.
6. Data retention
Operational server logs are retained only as long as needed for security and debugging and are then rotated or deleted in the ordinary course. We do not maintain a long-term database of visitor activity.
7. Children’s privacy
The Site is a general-audience technical reference and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
8. Your rights (CCPA / GDPR summary)
Because we do not maintain accounts or personal profiles, we typically hold no personal data tied to an identifiable visitor beyond transient server logs. To the extent applicable law (such as the California Consumer Privacy Act or the EU General Data Protection Regulation) grants you rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of personal data, or to object to processing, you may exercise them by emailing privacy@sawfacts.com. We do not sell personal information.
9. Security
We take reasonable measures to protect the Site, but no method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure.
10. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date above.
